Our Mission:
“Becoming more like Jesus… Together.”
“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:18–20, ESV)
Our goal is to simply point people to Jesus Christ and help them to grow in their relationship with Him. For some this means that we are introducing them to Jesus for the first time. For others this means that we are helping them grow in service or leadership, perhaps even planting a church. For everyone, we are walking with you in your next step on your spiritual journey.
We work hard at maintaining gospel-centrality in our lives. This means that the gospel itself is not one of our core values. Rather, the gospel is that which defines who we are in Jesus and then leads us to embrace the following values.
The most important thing to know about Ascent Christian Church is that we are fully committed and determined to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“…Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).
The Gospel is the very heart of who we are and what we do.
Our Name…
Ascent Christian Church
Our name is the first thing that people notice. We are a non-denominational Christian Church. This means that we simply want to be known as Christians.
Three Simple Words…
Belong, Transform, and Proclaim
Our strategy for helping people take their next steps is to help people feel like they belong, allow the Holy Spirit to transform them and encourage them to proclaim the Gospel wherever they go.
“One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were watching him carefully. And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away. And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?” And they could not reply to these things.” (Luke 14:1–6, ESV)
Yep. That’s it. Our mission comes from Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20 & Matthew 22:37-40) and our vision is how we live out the mission of Jesus as we seek to love God and love our neighbors… There many ways we seek to BE the church in our city, so come check us out and be a part of what The Ascent is doing locally and globally (Glocal).
